For graduates of SUNY New Paltz who would like to continue their research.

New York Public Library

You are eligible for a free New York Public Library card if you live, work, or attend school in New York State.  You can apply for a card on their website.  With an NYPL library card, you can access some of their online databases remotely and on-site. Their website provides information about their databases.

Public Library Resources & NOVELNY

NOVELNY, the New York Online Virtual Electronic Library, provides access to a large number of e-resources available to NY State residents. You must be a NY State resident to use this service.  You will login with your NYS Driver Licence or NYS Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Non-Driver ID number.  

Public libraries make a range of electronic resources available to their members.  Be sure to check with your local public library to see what is available to you electronically.  

New York State Library

Individuals qualifying for one of the following user categories may apply for a New York State Library Borrower's Card or a New York State Resident Borrower's Card.  A NYSL Borrower's Card or NYS Resident Borrower's Card allows individuals to borrow books and other materials, as well as, access online journals, online newspapers and other online resources 24/7 from work or home.

  • Attorneys who are NYS residents
  • Municipal Historians appointed by NYS local governmental bodies
  • New York State Government Employees
  • New York State Residents
  • Physicians who are NYS residents
  • Retired New York State Government Employees
