STL Library Catalog

Use the STL Catalog  to find physical and electronic books, videos, journals, magazines and other materials owned by the Sojourner Truth Library. Search by author, title, subject, or keyword (All Fields).

There are several methods for finding philosophy books in the STL Catalog.  In the basic search screen, you can search for a philosopher's name as an author (using an "Author's last name, first name" search), or you can search for a philosopher (last name first) as a Subject Heading ("Subject begins with" search). You can also search for a philosopher's name or for a search term such as "virtue ethics" as a keyword ("all fields" search), which will retrieve books that include the search term(s) anywhere in the catalog record (such as in a chapter title).

*Helpful hint*  Scholarly books always have an extensive bibliography and/or rich footnotes. Seek out the references that are listed in these books. Not only will this save you time but in many cases,  you will be referred to other reliable sources.
