About this Guide

Do you have an assignment that requires you to explore the pros and cons of a controversial issue such as abortion, immigration, or health care reform?  Do you have to write a persuasive or argumentative essay, or take a side on an issue for a speech or a debate?

This research guide provides suggestions for finding reliable information on topics of current interest.  Review the tabs above to learn how to find reputable information quickly.

To effectively argue one side of an issue it is essential to also be familiar with arguments from the other side of that same issue. Do not limit yourself to researching only one side.

If you are involved in the Business Debates Contest, you should consider scheduling a research consultation with a librarian for in-depth personal assistance with research.  To schedule a Research Consultation
