Finding Statistics and Data: Economics/Business

A guide to finding statistics in the library and on the web.

Statistical Information

Hover your mouse over the Data & Statistics tab above to see a list of the different categories of statistical resources.

Basic Tip about Data:  Do not spend a lot of time researching a topic before determining whether there is data available that will help you answer your research question.  Write down your ideal data set for your research question.  Try to locate the data set now, if you find that the available data is not close to what you want, you may want to change your research topic.

If you are having a hard time finding what you need, schedule a research consultation or stop by the Research Help Desk.

You can also consult the Library's Government Information Library Guide which may contain additional data sources.

Apply for a NYPL digital card

As a SUNY New Paltz student, you have access to the Sojourner Truth Library (STL). However, public libraries are always an excellent resource too. If you live, work, or attend school in New York State, you can sign up for a New York Public Library (NYPL) card!

If you do not have an NYPL card, apply online to receive a digital library card and gain access immediately. It works for digital resources such as e-books, audiobooks, and databases, but not print. NYPL subscribes to hundreds of databases, giving you access to scholarly journals, magazines, and business data. Regardless of your field of study, chances are you'll find some databases useful.

Browse NYPL's extensive database collection.
