Ghosts in the Library

A spooky research game where teams of students fight the paranormal forces and defend the SUNY New Paltz campus.

Search STL Collection Using Library Catalog

Use the Library Catalog to find books, videos, journals, magazines, and other materials owned by the Sojourner Truth Library.  Search by author, title, subject, or keyword.

Unlike Google, the library catalog does not offer correction for misspellings. For the best search results, use a few important keywords, not a long phrase or question.

Find Electronic Books

Ebook Central (Formerly Ebrary) is a collection of over 70,000 electronic books that can be accessed 24/7.  The ebooks maintained in this collection are real print books that have been scanned, digitized, and made fully available online. Access and search ebrary by clicking on the link below.

You can also access ebooks through the regular Library Catalog. Enter your search and look for results with "ebook" in the call number. There will be a link in these records to the ebook content.

How do I use the call number to find my book?

Everything in the library has a call number. Most of the call numbers use the Library of Congress Classification System.

The Library of Congress Classification System arranges items by subjects. The first sections of a Library of Congress call number represent the subject of the item. Because items related to a similar subject are placed next to each other, you can often find several helpful books on the same shelf or nearby.

This video created by the Douglas College Library offers some helpful tips for reading a Library of Congress call number to locate an item.
