Industry Analysis: Trade Journals and Associations

Trade or professional publications

  • Provides information of use to a particular industry.
  • Articles are not peer-reviewed.

Trade publications are tremendous resources offering extensive specialized information on the industries they cover.  Many of these trade publications are in full text in the business databases such as Business Source Complete and ABI/Inform. Also, the publishers of trade journals often maintain their websites with selected free data. For example, the Beverage Industry offers a great free resource, an annual State of the Industry Report. This report gives top overall beverage brands with their sales, market share, and company portfolios.
