Accessing Materials on the Ground Floor

A guide on how to access materials from the Ground floor of the library while it is closed due to mold.

Campus Message

Dear Members of the Campus Community:

As we have previously shared, the University has been monitoring the presence of mold on the ground floor of the Sojourner Truth Library since it was first discovered last year. We have now completed the removal of all mold-affected materials.

This summer, Environmental Health & Safety and third-party consultants worked on cleaning the affected materials and the surrounding area. These materials are being treated off-site and will be returned to the Library in the coming months.

Work on the ground floor of the Library is still ongoing and the area remains closed. We do not yet have an exact date for when the ground floor will be reopened. We will make every effort to open this floor as soon as possible and will alert the campus community when the area is cleared for use.

Materials on the ground floor include books in the M-Z range, bound periodicals, oversized books, maps, select atlases, microforms and federal government documents. Students, faculty and staff interested in using these materials can speak to Library staff for assistance gaining access to them via interlibrary loan, electronic resources and/or other means if possible. The Library has also created this guide to accessing materials on the ground floor, which offers more detailed information.

We apologize for the inconvenience as we work to ensure a safe Library environment for students, faculty and staff.

Dean, Sojourner Truth Library
