Use the Library Catalog to find books, videos, journals, magazines and other materials owned by the Sojourner Truth Library.

Search by author, title, subject, or keyword

Advance Searching the Library Catalog: Summary Steps

Using "Library Catalog" interface of the STL Catalog, find an item from the STL physical collections.

  1. Go the the Advanced Search tab of the STL Library Catalog interface (i.e., select "Library Catalog" from the rollover menu under Catalog on the STL homepage).
  2. Select an appropriate Field to Search (e.g., Words Anywhere or Subject)
  3. Enter your general topic or subject terms (e.g., etymology) in the Search For box
  4. Select any appropriate search limits from the Year, Language, Format or Limit by Collection options
  5. Click the Go button and view your results.
  6. In your results list, note the STL location and Call Number of an item that interests you.
  7. Go to that location in the library and, following the call number, find your item
  8. Evaluate the usefulness of the item to your research needs.

Finding Items in the Library: Navigate the Library

The Sojourner Truth Library organizes its materials into different library collections and then arranges individual items in a collection by a call number.
