This guide is designed to gather all the tools and resources available to New Paltz faculty when searching for cited references or citation counts for their publications. Useful when preparing for promotion and tenure.

Cited Reference Search in MathSciNet

MathSciNet indexes mathematical literature and offers cited reference analysis via simple searches for authors, titles, etc. One of the best methods is to search by Author Citations.  (Date coverage is from 2000-present.)

First, click on the Citations tab.

Enter the Author's Last Name, First Initial in the Author search box.  If more than one author matches the search, click on the scroll arrow in the box and select the appropriate author.  A list of the author's publications will be displayed.  Click on the Bolded number to the left of the article, this will show you the number of times the publication has been cited by other publications in the MathSciNet database.

Click on the links to see the citing publications.
